Flight Training Basics

We accept students of all ages. You don't need a student pilot certificate to take flying lessons; however, you DO need the following before you can fly solo: Be at least 16 years old. Read, speak, and understand English and hold at least a current third-class medical certificate.

 

What Can I Do With A Private Pilot License

As a private pilot you'll enjoy all the benefits of being a pilot. You can carry passengers and fly for purposes of business if it's not an integral element of your business. Your FAA Private Pilot license will be recognized everywhere in the world. You will gain access to a community of indivuduals along with support systems designed to help you further your career as a pilot and assist your aviation adventures for years to come. 

 

What are the requirements to become a Private Pilot?
Private Pilot Requirements
 

  1. Be at least 17 years of age.

  2. Be able to read, write, and converse fluently in English.

  3. Obtain at least a third-class FAA medical certificate.

  4. Receive and log ground training from
    an authorized instructor or complete a home-study course

  5. Pass a knowledge test with a score of 70% or better. The private pilot knowledge test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions selected from all of the
    airplane-related questions in the FAA's private pilot knowledge test bank.

  6. Accumulate appropriate flight experience (see FAR 61.109). Receive a total of 40 hr. of flight instruction and SOLO flight time.

  7. Receive flight instruction and demonstrate skill (see FAR 61.107).

  8. Successfully complete a practical (flight) test, which will be given as a final exam
    by an FAA inspector or designated pilot examiner; it will be conducted as specified in the FAA's Private Pilot Practical Test Standards.

Become Instrument Rated


To obtain your Instrument Rating is not only a fun pursuit, but a worthwhile accomplishment. You will gain the increased skill and confidence that comes from the precise flying required for this rating. IFR pilots are not restricted as much by the weather and learn to use all of the aircrafts equipment for safe navigation during times when the weather is considered less then ideal for flying. For those pursuing a career in aviation, the Instrument Rating, and the knowledge you will receive during training, is a must.

 

What’s next after your Instrument Rating?

Get your Commercial
Pilot License 


As a Commercial pilot, you will be able to fly for compensation or hire. This could include flying people, cargo or in a variety of other capacities. Many Commercial pilots pursue careers as flight instructors, charter pilots, and/or with the airlines. There is more to it then just flying commerical jets and we would be glad to help you obtain your dream of flight no matter where it is that your dreams take you. Our staff is comprised of a wide variety of professional pilots and instructors who have done it all and are happy to share their experience and knowledge with you.

Become a Certified
Flight Instructor

As a Certified Flight Instructor, or CFI, you will be responsible for helping people to realize their dream of flight. This is one of the most rewarding forms of flying that you will engage in, both for yourself and countless others. During your employment as a CFI you will acquire skills, gain real world flying experience and build flight time while being compensated doing so. Becoming an Airline Transport Pilot


ATP, is a significant accomplishment in your flying career. Airline Transport Pilots are responsible for operating large transport aircraft with advanced systems.
